Schedule

2/3/23 - My group will have a completed storyboard.

2/4/23-2/6/23 - My group will gather all necessary props and put together costumes.

2/6/23-2/8/23 - My group will start and finish filming the scenes that take place in the characters house.

2/9/23-2/12/23 - My group will film the park scenes for the short film.

    Within these times for filming any back-ups or retakes should be completed for all scenes.

2/13/23-2/15/23 - My group will edit the short film.

2/16/23 - My group will finalize the short film which will include both the filming and editing being finished.

Location

My partner and I will be filming at Royal Palm Park, Oakland Park, FL. This location will be used for the scenes in our film that take place at a park. Some good things about this park are its scenery, location, and accommodations. The background of the clips that will be seen in our film will look nice and the atmosphere won't take away from the quality of my group's film. The location of this park is not too far from either my partner or my house so there won't be much of a problem getting there. Also, this park has benches which is a necessary factor for one of the scenes in my short film. The address is 1701 NW 38th St, Oakland Park, FL 33309. Other than this, my group will also be filming at my house.

Participants

The actors in this short film will be my partner and I. My group will also take turns acting as the camera man in order for the character to be seen as different actors. When my group needs both actors on the screen at once, there will be a tripod or stand that can be used in order for there to be no camera man for that clip. For now my group plans on only using two actors. However, as filming starts my group may adjust the plans to suit another actor outside of the group.

Health and Safety

For the filming of this short film there will be no chance of harm for anybody involved. However, everyone in my group will have a cell phone on their person that can be used to call for help if the need occurred.

Props

My group will utilize props such as cell phones, envelopes, paper, and writing tools. If my group finds that more props are needed then my group plans on going to a store to purchase the prop or finding something else that can be used. However, since my group's short film deals with realism, every prop will likely be available at one of my group members' homes.

Costumes

The costumes used in my group's short film will be everyday clothing as the characters in the short film are supposed to look like real people. However, based on how filming goes one character may wear a hat.

Back-Up Plans

If my group is unable to film at my house then filming will take place at my other group members house. For the park scenes, if my group's first choice is unavailable then my group will choose another park that isn't too far away from where my group lives.

Movie Conventions Blog: Knives Out

  This movie contains many close-up shots on individual character's faces. Usually mystery movies consist of close-up shots to show facial expressions of the character. Typically fear, anger, and sadness are the emotions showed. However, In Knives Out, the characters tend to have confused facial expressions because they clues they run into do not make sense to them. Also, the diegetic sound in this film is similar to traditional mystery movies because of the startling ambient sounds. For example, when the detective is walking through the house, the floorboards creek and clock ticks loudly.                     I really love the low angles in this movie because it shows me which characters are the powerful ones. Normally, low angles are used to portray superiority in a villain but in this case it can apply to the detective. Also, the establishing shot at the start of the movie sets the tone perfectly. Title Website Research

         The website Art of the Title is a title art website that details and describes the titles sequences. The website conveys these title sequences by showcasing a major story, above this page is a search bar that allows the searcher to look for specific directors and producers. At the bottom of the page the website features stories detailing major things happening in the title design industry. This website also features classic title designs in the search bar along with recommended title screens. Another cool feature of this website is that it allows the viewer to view all title themes in a grid view. These features make the website really useful and the extensive amount of films combined with the articles written about them make this website great for researching titles.
