Production Blog: Filming

Image
Today my group and I continued filming. Since the first scene in the parking garage was completed last time I continued with the next scene. I filmed Felipe running inside then running into the elevator. Afterwards I filmed the mafia boss running in and just missing the elevator. After he pounded on the elevator he looked around and dashed for the stairwell. This part was hard to film as I had to do a tracking shot while he was running really fast. Then I filmed the next scene of Noah in the elevator with a stranger. At first there was a lot of laughter making it difficult to get through the scene. I filmed Felipe run out the elevator and into the stairwell. As he went into the stairwell he saw the mafia boss then ran down the hallway into the other stairwell. They chased each other up the stairs all the way to the roof. They argued on the roof. I transitioned to a POV shot of Felipe “jumping” off the roof into the pool. Then I went down to the pool and filmed Felipe jumping into the

Today was the start of filming. After lots of planning I was excited to begin. I and my group mates met at the filming location. The filming location was a group mates house. Before the start of filming I discussed all the plans for me and my group. I also reviewed the storyboard with them. I decided it would be best if the filming was done in order to best manage the scenes. Also the weather was not looking clear and the outside scenes were in the beginning. Everyone changed into their costumes then went to the first filming spot to start. I used a tripod that I purchased to stabilize the camera as I filmed. The filming started with me entering the parking garage on the verge of death. The other character then approaches me in hopes of helping. But unbeknownst to him I have a briefcase that has unknown contents. I ask him to take the briefcase and run. As that is happening a car rolls up with a mafia boss who seems to be looking for the briefcase. The other character runs inside and

Production Blog: Music

Image
For a film an essential part of the construction is sound. My group focus on the music aspect of sound. Original my group wanted to contact  14th Street Music for access to the creative works of their client Hanz Zimmer. After I sent multiple unresponsive messages I concluded that we wouldn’t be able to obtain their music for use. Therefore I looked into other professional artist music and contacted them. I continued to wait for a response for 1 of my messages but none were received. After that I started to look into royalty free music. After research I found Creative Commons. Using this I wouldn’t have to contact anyone to use their music or have to reference them while using it. I first looked for suspenseful music for 1 of the scenes in the film. This process took a while due to the fact that I had to find a piece of music that perfectly fit the scene. I was able to find some songs that could potentially be in the film.

Production Blog: Genre Re-Organization

Image
Me along with a group have done a lot of planning for this project. Throughout the planning I noticed a slight flaw. I have done all of my research and planning based on the mystery genre. All of the necessary conventions are there. But, it could also fit into the genre of thriller. So as it’s a mystery film, in the short amount of time we have it won’t be entirely fit to this genre. In the beginning of the film which my group and I are producing it will seem at bit of a thriller. This is due to the fact that it takes more time for the mystery genre to truly be reflected. This won’t change my plans but the genre is no more along the lines of mystery-thriller. It’s cool to see that the movie has so many conventions that it could fit multiple genre. Although the acting and some costumes might agree with the thriller genre. The music being us in the film will be mysterious to fit the mystery genre. The editing applies to both genres. That fast paced choppy editing will make it appear lik

Production Blog: Start to film…or Maybe Not

As my group and I were scheduled to start filming unfortunately I couldn’t start. I was all on schedule and on track to start filming. As I prepared my all my necessary items for filming I got a message from my group mates. They told me they hadn’t quite gotten all the costumes needed for filming. So I was unable to film. Instead of filming me and my group worked on all the costumes needed. Also there were essentially props and tools missing. There was a key briefcase needed as the main prop. There were also some filming accessories. This crucial accessory would have been used to stabilize the film. So my group carefully discussed and researched all the needed items. My group and I then discussed the next filming day. After considering everyone’s schedule and availability my group and I selected a date. There was also a concern on location. To insure the proper safety measures I had to make sure all the previous precautions were taken. I have dealt with setbacks like this before. I wil
